The hottest temperature ever recorded for 2 meters above ground level and out of direct sunlight was 57.8 C (136 F) in Libya. However depending on time of year & time of day, if you were near a volcano's during eruption, near a hotspot, your elevation and exposure to direct sunlight can all drastically make the surface hotter; it is most likely under a combination of these things that a much higher temperature has been reached.
